Locking Hardware and Access Control
Your intercom needs to connect to something that physically opens the door or gate. We install and wire all the lock hardware that makes that happen:
- Electric strikes – The most common lock release for intercom systems. When you press “unlock” in the app, the strike releases and the door opens. We install them on pedestrian gates, lobbies, and side entries.
- Magnetic locks (mag locks) – Electromagnetic locks rated for 600 to 1,200 lbs of holding force. We wire them to your intercom with a request-to-exit sensor on the inside. Standard for commercial buildings and parking garages.
- Electrified panic bars – Exit devices from Von Duprin, Falcon, and Detex with electric latch retract. Fire code requires these on many commercial and multi-tenant exit doors. We wire them into the intercom circuit.
- Electric dead latches – More secure than a standard strike. The latch bolt retracts when the intercom sends the unlock signal. We use these on high-security gates and entries where a standard strike isn’t enough.
- Smart keypads and RFID readers – Give regular visitors a code or card to enter without calling the intercom. We install DoorKing, Linear, and HID readers and program them to work alongside your intercom.

Tenant Directory Errors
Wrong names, missing units, or calls going to the wrong phone number. We correct the directory programming, verify each entry, and print an updated directory card for the outdoor panel.
Night Vision Not Working
The camera looks fine during the day but goes black at night. The infrared LEDs that light up the scene have burned out. We replace the LED module or the entire camera assembly depending on the intercom model.
Tip: If your DoorKing or Linear system lost its directory after a power outage, we can add a battery backup during the repair visit. It keeps the memory intact even during extended outages.

Why is my intercom making static noise?
Static usually means corroded wiring, a bad connection at a terminal, or moisture inside the outdoor station. We test each wire run with a meter and find the exact point of failure. Replacing a corroded connection or a worn speaker typically fixes it.
Can you fix my intercom if the brand went out of business?
Usually, yes. We carry replacement parts for most legacy systems. If parts aren’t available, we can retrofit a modern intercom onto your existing wiring so you don’t have to start from scratch.

The intercom itself is probably fine. The issue is usually the electric strike, the relay, or the wiring between the intercom and the lock. We test the full circuit from intercom to lock and pinpoint the break.
