AJ installed two DoorBird intercoms on our property. Everything from mounting to cable-routing and concealment were masterfully planned and executed with great attention to detail. We couldn't be happier with the results, and would highly recommend.

Intercom Installation in Redondo Beach
Redondo Beach properties deal with the same coastal moisture issues as other South Bay cities. We use stainless steel and IP65-rated intercom stations that hold up against salt air and morning fog.
We’re The Tech Guys Doors and Gates, and we install every major intercom brand in Redondo Beach. From DoorBird video intercoms to DoorKing telephone entry panels, we match the system to your property. We work on residential homes, beach condos, and commercial properties near the pier.
Intercom Brands We Install in Redondo Beach
Residential Intercom Brands
- DoorBird – IP video intercom with HD camera, mobile app, and zero monthly fees. Made in Germany. Our top pick for homes.
- Aiphone – Trusted hardwired intercom brand for homes and gated entries. Simple, reliable, and built to last.
- UniFi (Ubiquiti) – Network-based video intercom for homeowners who want local storage and no cloud subscriptions.
- Panasonic – Wireless intercom for homes and small offices. Easy to add extra handsets without running cable.
- LiftMaster – Intercom with MyQ app integration. Great if you already have a LiftMaster gate operator.
Commercial and Multi-Tenant Brands
- ButterflyMX – Cloud-based video intercom for apartment buildings. Residents answer on their phone. No in-unit hardware needed.
- 2N – Enterprise-grade IP intercom with touchscreen directory, RFID readers, and SIP protocol support.
- DoorKing (DKS) – Telephone entry systems for gated communities, parking garages, and commercial buildings.
- Linear – Affordable telephone entry for HOAs, small offices, and light commercial use.
Locking Hardware and Access Control
Your intercom needs to connect to something that physically opens the door or gate. We install and wire all the lock hardware that makes that happen:
- Electric strikes – The most common lock release for intercom systems. When you press “unlock” in the app, the strike releases and the door opens. We install them on pedestrian gates, lobbies, and side entries.
- Magnetic locks (mag locks) – Electromagnetic locks rated for 600 to 1,200 lbs of holding force. We wire them to your intercom with a request-to-exit sensor on the inside. Standard for commercial buildings and parking garages.
- Electrified panic bars – Exit devices from Von Duprin, Falcon, and Detex with electric latch retract. Fire code requires these on many commercial and multi-tenant exit doors. We wire them into the intercom circuit.
- Electric dead latches – More secure than a standard strike. The latch bolt retracts when the intercom sends the unlock signal. We use these on high-security gates and entries where a standard strike isn’t enough.
- Smart keypads and RFID readers – Give regular visitors a code or card to enter without calling the intercom. We install DoorKing, Linear, and HID readers and program them to work alongside your intercom.
Our Installation Process
Here’s how a typical intercom installation works in Redondo Beach:
Free Consultation
Call us or fill out the online form. We’ll ask about your property type, how many entry points you need, and what features matter to you. For bigger jobs, we schedule a free on-site visit to see the property in person.
System Design
We put together a plan that covers equipment, wiring routes, lock hardware, and installation timeline. You get a clear quote with no surprises. We explain why we’re recommending a specific brand and what alternatives exist if you want to compare.
Professional Installation
Our technicians handle everything from pulling cable to mounting hardware to programming the system. We test every component as we go. The outdoor station, indoor monitor, electric lock, and app connection all get verified before we consider the job done.
Training and Handoff
We walk you through the system in person. How to answer calls, how to unlock remotely, how to add new users, and how to check recorded video. We make sure you’re comfortable with everything before we pack up. If you have questions later, call us.
Redondo Beach Intercom FAQ
Which intercom brand do you recommend for homes?
For single-family homes, we usually recommend DoorBird. It’s made in Germany, gives you HD video on your phone, and there’s no monthly subscription. Aiphone is another solid pick if you prefer a hardwired indoor monitor.
Can you install an intercom on my existing gate?
In most cases, yes. We mount the intercom station on your gate pillar or wall, wire it to an electric strike or mag lock, and connect it to your gate operator if you have one. We’ve retrofitted intercoms onto iron gates, wood gates, and steel sliding gates.
How long does installation take?
A single residential intercom takes 2-4 hours. Multi-unit apartment systems run 1-3 days depending on how many stations and how much new wiring is needed. We’ll give you a time estimate before we start.
Do I need a separate access control system?
Not always. Many intercoms have built-in RFID readers or keypad options. If you need separate keypads for tenants, we can add DoorKing or Linear keypads alongside your intercom and program them together.
