Same-day gate repair across LA. LiftMaster, All-O-Matic, DoorKing, FAAC, Viking, Maximum Controls.
Great company!! Solved a tricky gate problem for me. Thank you!!
DoorKing is the brand you’ll find on most commercial and multi-tenant gate systems across LA. Apartment complexes, office parks, gated communities, parking structures. If a property has a gate with a telephone entry system, there’s a good chance DoorKing built both the operator and the access control.
We install, service, and repair DoorKing operators across Brentwood and all of LA County. The DKS 9050 and 9100 series are the models we work on most. These are commercial-grade machines built for high-traffic applications where residential operators would burn out in months.
DoorKing gate down? We carry DKS boards and parts.
Serving Brentwood and all of LA County. Or request an estimate online.
DoorKing manufactures everything in Inglewood, about 20 miles from Brentwood. That matters for two reasons. First, parts availability. When we need a DoorKing board, motor, or accessory, it ships from Inglewood. Not from China. Not from a warehouse in Texas. From Inglewood. For LA-based gate companies, that means next-day or same-day parts on most orders.
Second, phone support. DoorKing’s technical support team sits in the same building where the products are made. When we call with a board diagnostic question, we’re talking to engineers who designed the product. Not a call center reading from a script. That kind of support is rare in this industry, and it’s one of the reasons we recommend DoorKing for commercial projects.
The DoorKing 9050 is a 1/2 HP slide gate operator built for commercial use. It handles gates up to 1,500 pounds at a 100% duty cycle, meaning it can run continuously without overheating. Residential operators have a limited duty cycle (maybe 20 to 30 cycles per hour before thermal overload trips). The 9050 doesn’t have that limitation.
You’ll find 9050s on apartment complex entries, commercial parking lots, industrial facilities, and gated community main entrances. Anywhere a gate cycles 50 to 200+ times per day. That volume would destroy a residential operator within a year. The 9050 handles it year after year.
The 9050 uses a chain drive system with a heavy-gauge chain and sprocket. The chain is beefier than what you’ll find on residential operators, and the drive sprocket is hardened steel. These components are built for the constant use that commercial gates see.
The DoorKing 9100 series handles swing gates in commercial applications. Available in both pad-mount and post-mount configurations, the 9100 moves gates up to 16 feet long and 1,000+ pounds. It’s the operator you’ll find on commercial property swing gates where a standard residential operator doesn’t have enough muscle.
The 9100 uses a direct-drive arm mechanism. It’s designed for the constant start-stop cycling that commercial gates endure. Property managers appreciate the 9100’s adjustable speed and force settings, which let us fine-tune the operation for the specific gate weight and traffic pattern.
This is where DoorKing separates from every other operator brand. DoorKing doesn’t just make gate operators. They make the entire access control ecosystem: telephone entry systems, keypads, card readers, and the operators themselves. Everything is designed to work together.
A typical DoorKing commercial setup includes the gate operator (9050 or 9100), a telephone entry system (the DKS 1802, 1808, or 1835 series), and optionally a card reader or keypad. The telephone entry panel lets visitors call a tenant’s phone, and the tenant can press a button to open the gate remotely. The access log records every entry with a timestamp.
Because DoorKing builds all these components, the wiring and programming between them is clean. A DoorKing telephone entry system talks directly to a DoorKing operator without adapters, converters, or third-party relay modules. That integration reduces points of failure and simplifies troubleshooting.
When a property manager calls us because tenants can’t buzz visitors in, we troubleshoot one ecosystem instead of three separate brands that may or may not play nice together.
DoorKing control boards are the most common repair item on commercial systems, same as every other brand. Power surges are the primary killer. Lightning, utility switching, and transformer failures send voltage spikes through the wiring that fry board components instantly.
The DKS 9050 and 9100 use model-specific boards. When a board fails, we need the exact replacement for that operator model and revision. DoorKing has gone through several board revisions over the years, and they’re not always interchangeable. We verify the board number before ordering.
Board replacement on a DoorKing is a methodical process. We photograph all wiring connections before removing the old board. The new board goes in, wires reconnect to the same terminals, and we reprogram the limits, timer settings, and access control parameters. On a 9050 with telephone entry integration, board programming can take 30 to 45 minutes because there are more settings to configure than a standalone operator.
The biggest mistake we see from other companies is replacing the board without adding a surge protector. The new board is just as vulnerable as the one that fried. We install surge protection on every board replacement. It’s a small part that prevents the same failure from happening again.
Duty cycle. Commercial gates need to run 100, 200, or more cycles per day without overheating. DoorKing’s commercial operators are rated for continuous duty. Residential operators from other brands overheat and trigger thermal protection under that kind of load.
Access control integration. One brand, one ecosystem, one phone number to call when something breaks. Property managers don’t want to coordinate three vendors.
Local manufacturing and support. Parts from Inglewood. Tech support from engineers. For LA properties, that’s a real advantage over brands manufactured overseas.
Durability. DoorKing commercial operators use heavier steel housings, larger motors, and more substantial drive components than residential operators. They’re built to take a beating from high-traffic commercial use.
DoorKing builds the entire access control system: operator, telephone entry, keypad, card reader. LiftMaster makes excellent operators, but their commercial access control ecosystem isn’t as deep. For properties that need telephone entry and tenant management, DoorKing’s integrated system is easier to install and maintain.
We carry the most common DKS boards and parts on our trucks. For a board swap, we can usually have the gate running the same day. For less common parts, DoorKing ships from Inglewood and we typically have the part next business day. Call us at (310) 400-0314 and we’ll get you scheduled immediately.
Yes. We can reset the DoorKing telephone entry system and reprogram the master access code. This is more common than you’d think, especially when management companies change. We’ll need authorization from the property owner or HOA board to perform the reset.
Not for a DoorKing commercial operator. The 9050 and 9100 are rated for continuous duty. 100 to 200 cycles per day is standard for apartment and commercial installations. The key is sticking to a regular maintenance schedule: chain inspection, lubrication, and safety sensor checks every 6 months for high-traffic systems.
