DoorBird Installer Pacific Palisades
AJ installed my DoorBird in Laurel Canyon, and after 18 months came back to make a rain-related repair. Both times he was so professional and knowledgeable and just terrific to work with, making the whole process easy.

DoorBird Installations We See in Pacific Palisades
Pacific Palisades is one of the highest-end residential markets in Los Angeles, and the DoorBird installations we do here reflect that. Most of our work is on estate properties along Riviera, in the Huntington Palisades, on the streets above Sunset Boulevard, and in the Highlands — homes with long private driveways, multiple gates, indoor-outdoor living spaces, and existing whole-home automation systems like Control4, Crestron, or Savant. The DoorBird isn’t a standalone fixture for these clients; it’s one node in a larger security and convenience setup, and integration matters as much as the unit itself.
For estate properties, the most common configuration is two or three DoorBird units — one at the main vehicle gate, one at a secondary pedestrian gate or service entrance, and sometimes a third at a guest house or pool house door. All units link to a single account so the homeowner sees every visitor on one app, and the integration with the smart home platform routes calls to a touchscreen panel inside the main house in addition to phones.
Smart Home Integration Is the Standard Here
Pacific Palisades homes almost always have an existing smart home system already installed, and the DoorBird needs to talk to it correctly. We’ve integrated DoorBird with Control4, Crestron, Savant, Loxone, ELAN, and Apple Home — each one handles incoming intercom calls slightly differently. With Control4, the call rings through to in-wall touchscreens and shows the camera feed on TVs. With Crestron, the trigger can fire scenes (turn on driveway lights, unlock the door, send a notification). With Savant, the doorbell event can be routed to specific rooms based on time of day. Getting these handoffs right requires knowing the smart home platform, not just the DoorBird.
For homes without an existing system, we still recommend at least one indoor station inside the main house in addition to the smartphone app. The reason: cell reception in some Palisades canyons is unreliable, and the homeowner shouldn’t have to depend on a working LTE signal to know who’s at the gate.
Estate Gate Integration in Pacific Palisades
The driveway gates on Palisades estates are usually high-end equipment — FAAC, BFT, or Elite hydraulic operators on heavy ornamental iron gates, sometimes paired with separate pedestrian gate operators and an automated bollard or two. DoorBird integrates with all of them through the dry-contact relays, but the pulse timing on hydraulic operators is often different from the more common LiftMaster or DoorKing residential operators. We test each gate cycle, set the relay duration to match the operator’s expected input, and verify the trigger works reliably under load. For homes with multiple gates, we wire one DoorBird with two relay outputs — one button per gate — rather than installing two separate units, which keeps the entry layout cleaner and easier to manage.
Network Reliability for Long-Driveway Properties
Many Palisades homes have driveways that run 100 to 300 feet from the street to the main house, with the WiFi router located deep inside the house. Standard mesh networks don’t reach the gate reliably, and WiFi extenders introduce latency that makes the live video feed lag. The right solution is hardwired Cat6 from the main router to a POE switch in a small enclosure near the gate. This is more work upfront but it’s the difference between a system that works perfectly for years and one that drops offline at the worst moments. For Highlands homes with even longer runs, we sometimes install a fiber link or use POE-over-fiber adapters to handle the distance.
Pacific Palisades Areas We Cover
- The Riviera — Estate homes along Riviera Drive and the surrounding streets, often with multiple gates and full smart home integration
- Huntington Palisades — Established residential streets with original 1940s and 1950s homes, many being remodeled with modern security upgrades
- The Highlands — Hillside properties with long driveways, panoramic views, and complex network requirements
- Castellammare and the Bluffs — Cliffside homes along PCH with marine air exposure and challenging mounting conditions
- Marquez Knolls — Hillside residential with mid-century and contemporary homes
- Alphabet Streets — Walking-distance to the village, mix of bungalows and remodeled estates
We’re also actively working in areas affected by the January 2025 Palisades fire, helping homeowners specify and install DoorBird systems as part of their rebuild. If you’re rebuilding and want to coordinate the intercom rough-in with your contractor’s schedule, call us early — running conduit during framing is much easier than trying to retrofit cable later.
Pacific Palisades DoorBird FAQ
Can DoorBird integrate with my Control4 or Crestron system?
Yes. DoorBird has native drivers for Control4, Crestron, Savant, Loxone, ELAN, and most major smart home platforms. We configure the integration during installation so calls route to your touchscreens, the camera feed shows on your TVs, and the relay can trigger scenes alongside opening the gate.
How many DoorBird units can I have on one account?
There’s no hard limit. We routinely install three or four units on estate properties — driveway gate, pedestrian gate, guest house, pool house — all linked to one app account so every visitor shows up in one place.
What if my driveway is too long for WiFi to reach?
We run hardwired Cat6 from your router to a POE switch near the gate. For very long runs (over 300 feet), we use POE extenders or fiber. Either way, the connection is reliable in a way WiFi extenders never are.
Do you work with my general contractor during a rebuild?
Yes. For homes being rebuilt after the 2025 fire, we coordinate with the general contractor to rough-in conduit and pull cable during framing, which avoids retrofit headaches later. Call us as early in the build as possible so we can review the plans.
What’s the typical investment for a Palisades estate install?
Estate installs vary widely based on the number of gates, the smart home integration complexity, and the cabling required. We provide a written quote on-site after walking the property and reviewing your existing systems.
